Who is Sunly Energy?

We are a team of passionate people that firmly believe that the future of electricity is driven through a combination of Renewable Sources like Solar and Energy Conservation. We want to help Canadians achieve this by providing a solution that can actually save them money. We have over 30 years of combined Solar and Energy Conservation experience across Canada.
What does Sunly do?

Sunly is a company that sells, designs and installs solar power systems. We have installed thousands of systems both residential and commercial. We also build long term relationships with our customers by delivering on our promises.
What makes Sunly special?

Sunly does more than just sell. We perform our own site assessments and installations. We are also determined to develop the industry wherever we are by employing and training people from the community.

Why are microinverters better than string inverters?

Unlike traditional string inverters that have a central inverter for the entire system, microinverters convert direct current into alternating current at the module level. This maximizes energy conversion and helps to avoid fire hazards caused by the high voltage on your rooftop. It is not only safer but more efficient too.
Can the system supply me with backup power during a power outage?

No. The system shuts down immediately and does not produce electricity until power returns. This is a North American wide standard to protect the people working on the electrical system during an emergency.
Why do you bother with doing the Structural Engineering?

We do this to ensure that the roof can safely handle the weight of the panels.
Are the solar panels made in Canada?

The solar panels come from different places. Currently, the demand for solar panels outweighs the production capacity in Canada, therefore, some of the panels are imported from overseas.

Are you working for the government/utility/power company?

No. Sunly is a company that sells and installs solar power systems that are eligible under the provincial program.
How much will the system cost?

That depends on how much power you use and how many solar panels we can fit on your property. This is why we offer the complimentary assessment and meeting with your Solar Advisor.
Does the government offer the 0% financing?

Yes! The government offers a 0% loan of up to $40,000 for homeowner's going solar. This loan is over a 10 year term, and only applies to primary residences.

Why do you need to visit my property?

Our Solar Advisor will look at your breaker panel to make sure there aren’t any concerns. They will also assess the roof condition if it’s older. Lastly, they will also review the assessment results with you and answer any questions you have.
How long is the process?

The process usually takes between 6-8 months to complete.
What if I move?

If you move, the system will remain with the property. The system, lease/loan and savings will transfer to the new owners.
What if I need to replace my roof?

If your roof is old and will need to be replaced soon, we strongly recommend getting it done before installing the system. If you choose to do it later, the system will need to be removed from the roof and then reinstalled once the roof is replaced.
Where do the Installers come from?

The installation crews are local to the province.
