Greener Homes Loan Application Guide
Before beginning:
Please ensure you have requested the Greener Homes Grant and received your pre-retrofit report indicating solar is a recommended retrofit.
Please ensure you have the following on hand:
Your renovation upgrade report from your home energy assessment
A copy of your property tax bill (ready to upload)
A copy of government issued ID (ready to upload)
Proof of income (ready to upload)
Your mortgage details (if applicable)
Your solar inspection report from Sunly
A list of your assets and liabilities to enter
Void Cheque or direct deposit information

How to Apply
1. Register on the Canada Greener Homes Loan Portal (www.cghli.ca/home)
You will be asked to create a username and password. Please note this information as this will be your login method moving forward for your loan.
2. Apply for the loan by walking through Step 1-Step 8 shown below
STEP ONE: ELIGIBILITY
1. Choose your applicant type.
2. Enter your Renovation Upgrade Report File Number. Once added, you will confirm your address.
This file number will be found in the upper left hand corner of the Renovation Upgrade Report you would have received from your home energy assessment company following your pre-audit.
Listed below is an example.
3. Ensure you are eligible by reading through the listed statements. Check the box to continue.
STEP TWO: APPLICANT DETAILS
Confirm your information is correct and enter your date of birth (click on the month to edit)
Select to add a co-borrower, if applicable. Provide their name and email and they will be contacted directly to give their personal information after this application is submitted.
After the main application is submitted, the co-borrower will receive an email from noreply@cghli.ca with subject Canada Greener Homes Loan Application Submitted saying you have been added as a co-borrower to the application. Please follow the link in the email to create a username and password.
THIS IS A LOGIN UNIQUE TO THE CO-BORROWER AND MUST BE USED TO LINK BOTH USER ACCOUNTS TO THE LOAN APPLICATION.
STEP THREE: PROPERTY DETAILS
STEP FOUR: RETROFIT SELECTIONS
Enter ALL of your retrofits of choice (Renewable Energy and any others you are requesting)
It is the clients responsibility when applying to correctly capture these values with their loan application. The 15% loan advance payment will be required prior to all paperwork being completed to commence installation.
Enter your solar contractors contact information when requested:

Enter your quoted cost (CGH Loan Principle as shown on page 2 of your inspection report).
Enter your quoted deposit (15% CGH Loan Advance as shown on page 2 of your inspection report).
Enter your solar system size (DC size as shown on page 1 of your inspection report).
STEP FIVE: INCOME
Enter your income and provide supporting documents, as required (just the main applicant’s income. Any co-borrowers will be asked separately when they create their account). If you receive a pension, please enter here.
STEP 6: ASSETS AND LIABILITIES

STEP SEVEN: REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
You will be asked to provide the following documents to validate the information provided in the previous section.
Property Tax Document
Proof of Income (x2)
Proof of Primary Residence (valid gov’t ID with address)
Contractor Quotes/Cost Estimates (your Sunly Solar Inspection Report)
STEP EIGHT: SUBMIT YOUR LOAN APPLICATION
Your loan breakdown will be listed here. Review and submit if correct and you agree to the Applicant Attestation Statement.
If you have added a co-borrower, it is at this stage they will be prompted by email to create their account as noted previously in step 2. This email can take up to 24hrs to receive. The co-borrower will be asked to validate the information that has been provided as well as provide their personal information.
LOAN APPROVAL
After you submit this information your file will be sent to an auditor. You will receive an email either approving or rejecting the loan. You have 30 days to accept the loan offer. If approved you will receive an email stating that your application has been approved. Subject: Canada Greener Homes Loan – Application Approved.
It is important at this stage to review the values you have been approved for and ensure they are correct. After a loan has been approved you cannot make any changes.
IMPORTANT: THIS LOAN OFFER HAS NOT BEEN ACTIVATED. You must log back into your loan portal and review the loan agreement and then electronically sign the documents. Once the main applicant has signed, the documents will be sent to the co-borrower directly for signing. You must provide your banking information along with a PDF copy of your void cheque or direct deposit form.
Once signed, you will receive another email confirming approval including a copy of the signed Loan Agreement and the accepted Loan Application Terms and Conditions.
PAYMENT OF DEPOSIT
You should receive your deposit wired to your bank account within approx 10 days, wire fees may be applicable. You will need to look out for this deposit as you will not be notified when this has been processed. Once obtained, this is when Milestone 2 payment is due to Sunly. The paperwork process cannot be completed until this payment has been received. Payment can be made via cheque or e-transfer as outlined on your invoice
